VCU Police unveil a new tool for monitoring party noise

The VCU Police department has just unveiled a new van designed to monitor and enforce the noise ordinance regarding loud house parties.  The van is equipped with audio and video equipment used to measure the decibel level and record footage to be used as evidence in a trial against the accused.  VCU Police plan to deploy the van to monitor residences that don’t curtail noisy parties after multiple police warnings.  Under the current ordinance, a violation occurs at decibel levels of 75 or greater from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and 65 or greater after 11 p.m.  A link for the entire article is posted below.
