Budget Cuts for Virginia State Police

Governor Terry McAuliff announced earlier this week that there would be budget cuts to several departments.  Up to 90 percent of the cuts will be from the Department of Corrections and will result in the closure of 3 correctional facilities.  The budget cuts also affect the Virginia State Police by selling 1 of 3 of the airplanes that is used to monitor speeders on the interstate.  They will also face a Trooper deficit by leaving 27 out of 68 positions vacant and postponing academy dates for new Troopers.
