Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is taken very seriously in Virginia.  In many DUI cases, the prosecutor is seeking jail time, which increases need to retain a knowledgeable, experienced attorney.

A DUI conviction carries a maximum fine of $2500 and a minimum fine of $250.  However, the minimum fines increase drastically with subsequent convictions or an elevated BAC.  Additionally there is a mandatory 12 month license suspension with ignition interlock being required for a restricted license.  If convicted of DUI, you will also be required to complete the Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program (VASAP).  Finally, for any case resulting in a conviction at an elevated BAC, greater than .14, there is a mandatory jail sentence.

I have had a tremendous amount of success representing DUI clients.  In one recent case, the individual was charged with DUI while transporting a juvenile, a charge carrying a mandatory minimum 5 days in jail.  I was able to negotiate with the prosecutor for a reduction of the charge to reckless driving, thus avoiding the DUI conviction and any potential jail time.  In another recent case, my client was charged with DUI with an elevated BAC, above .14, which carries a mandatory minimum 5 days in jail.  In this instance I was able to convince the prosecutor to strike the last sentence referring to the elevated BAC, which kept my client from having to serve any time in jail.  All cases are unique and past results do not guarantee future outcomes, but I have had tremendous success representing DUI clients in the past.

Additionally, representation does not end when the trial has concluded.  I will answer any questions you may have through the complicated aftermath of a DUI.  All of the requirements that the court sets for you after the conclusion of your case can be very confusing and often need to be explained in further detail.  I do not abandon my clients after trial has concluded but instead walk them through the entire process.
